Thank you. That is kind of where my thoughts were. I'll just use the tires to
brighten things up with a few flowers.

That's a great idea. Living in Florida, you have a nearly year-round growing season too.

I live in FL. I am experimenting with cement block gardening. Put a layer,
flat side up running N-S. Another layer, holes side up running E-W. (Alows for good drainiage.) Mixed 3 cups of potting soil with 1 cup of perlite, some black
cow, bone meal and Epsom salts for magnesium. Mixed it all in the wheelbarrow.
Each hole held about 10 cups of this mixture. Have planted my little plants in
the holes and water every day. Using young swiss chard and collards as salad
greans. Perlite keeps soil from packing down and staying wet all the time.
Tomatoes have flowers now. Also have basil & parsley plus a big box with
oregano. Herbs have a lot of health benefits. This is my first year, so would
love any advice for anyone who has tried it.

To be safe, I would line them with food-safe plastic or with a wooden barrier before using them for food crops. I don't know of any specific bad things that a car tire can impart to food, but with how chemical-laden they are, I would doubt that they are good for you. Again, this is just a guess as I have no specific information either way. Thanks!

I have a question relating to gardening with tires. I would like to use some
old car tires as planters. Would they be safe for use with food plantings or
should I only use them for flowers?
