WM Gets Solar Garbage Cans Too

Filed Under: Green Technology on June 15, 2009

bbgreenNot too long ago, the city of Philadelphia got solar powered garbage cans called BigBelly Solar cans.  In the spirit of brotherly love, Waste Management then took hold of the deal and ran with it.  They’ve announced to the U.S. Conference of Mayors that they’re going to distribute BigBelly’s nationally.

They’ll be selling them to municipal and county governments (or whomever they’ve delegated garbage collection to) for public use on street corners, in parks, and so forth.  Fifteen of them are in Foxborough, Massachusetts already near the stadium for the Patriots.

For more information on how the BigBelly works, see the previous post we did on them.  It will be cool to see these things all over the place some day.
