Micro-Wind Capture Device Without a Turbine – Cool!

Filed Under: Environmental News, Green Technology on August 19, 2009

Here’s a cool invention that’s got everything a great invention needs: a market need, ultra-simplicity, and low cost of manufacture.  It’s called the Windbelt by its inventor, Shawn Frayne.  His “smallest-scale” version produces about 40 milliwatts in 10 mile per hour winds, which is about 30 times as efficient as an equivalent turbine could be.

You can read an article in Popular Mechanics by clicking here which explains the device in more detail.  There is also a short video which shows it in action as the inventor goes over some details.
