Arkema Introduces 100% Bio-sourced Thermoplastic Elastomers
Filed Under: Environmental News on October 26, 2009
By combining a bio-sourced polyol with castor oil chemistry, Arkema, France’s leading chemicals producer, has developed Pebax Rnew100, a range of thermoplastic elastomers produced entirely from renewable raw materials. Pebax Rnew100 complements the Pebax Rnew range which is based on 20-95% plant origin carbon.
As with the other Pebax grades, Pebax Rnew100 offers outstanding mechanical properties, together with excellent resistance to thermal and ultra-violet ageing, according to Arkema. Light weight and with dynamic behavior, the products offer resistance to both flexural and tensile stress. Pebax Rnew100 offers the best possible compromise between rigidity and mechanical strength at cold temperature, according to the company.
Pebax Rnew and Rnew100 fulfil specification requirements in many sectors, including automotive, electronics and sports equipment.
