Looking For Fresh Food? Try Veggie Trader

Think of it as Craigslist for fresh food. VeggieTrader.com is an awesome resource for finding local food swaps, farmer’s markets, or pick-your-own and co-ops.
Geared mostly towards the home or small gardener who wants to trade excess of one crop for another, the site is still in its infancy. It’s free to use and has the potential to be a great resource, though.
The idea is simple: you create your own account, list any produce you have excess of, and/or look through listings from your local area to find produce you’re interested in trading for.
How cool is that?
The setup is pretty simple. Many areas already have a lot of participants. California and Colorado are well-represented on the site right now, but others are growing. Find me if you live in eastern Wyoming or western Nebraska! My username is MacAaron, of course, but I don’t currently have any listings since we’ve already traded or canned all of our excess this year. Will trade pickles for apples, though. :)
