The Green Computer – Cool eco2bag

Filed Under: Susatainable Living on October 13, 2009

If you have a notebook computer, as I do, then you probably carry it around or use it in places where some kind of protection in getting from your place to that somewhere else is a good idea.  Some people prefer a big laptop case with a hard shell or a large, purse-like laptop bag.  Me?  I like sleeves so that my notebook is protected, but still isn’t anything other than a notebook.  Good sleeves usually can accommodate laptop accessories like cords and such too.

My new favorite is the eco2bag from Pakuma.  A friend of mine pointed me to the Gearzap.com website to look this bag over.  Pretty cool!  Not only is it exactly the kind of laptop bag I prefer (sleeves), but it’s also made from 100% recycled materials.

That means it matches all of my criteria.  My little (or big, depending on your standards) HP here has been around for over six years now.  I don’t believe in throwing stuff out and so far, there is little this unit can’t accomplish anyway.  However, my old laptop carrier has basically fallen apart, being the cheap one that came with the HP, so it’s time to find something else.  They have a lot of laptop case options at Gearzap, just none that were what I wanted.

This eco2bag, though, is great stuff.  It’s heavily padded with ribs of padding through the interior, large enough to fit my notebook and its power supply, and looks pretty great with the orange stripe (green is shown here).  Even cooler, which I didn’t realize at first, is that the padding is actually memory foam made from recycled mattresses.  The outer shell is a poly fabric made from recycled bottles and even the packaging for it is made from 100% recycled paper and soya inks.

Very, very cool.  If this isn’t your style of notebook holder, there are some other great ones at Gearzap too.  Check out the laptop bag collection (based on size of your computer).
