Filed Under: Environmental News on November 15, 2009
A company called First Wind has completed the first phase of its Milford Wind Corridor project, erecting 203.5 Megawatts worth of wind towers through Millard and Beaver Counties in the State of Utah. This is the largest Utah-based wind energy facility.
A total of 97 turbines make up the new wind far, which will serve to produce enough power for about 45,000 homes. Homes in Southern California, that is.
The Southern California Public Power Authority purchased a 20 year contract for all of the power generated by the new wind farm. Power will go to Los Angeles, Burbank, and Pasadena, California.
First Wind plans to expand the corridor in stages over the next few years to a total capacity of 1 Gigawatt of energy potential.
