The Cupcake Car – Tasty Humiliation That’s All Electric

These people were willing to humiliate themselves showing off these, err, half-baked concoctions (or would that be confections).  So I’m willing to make fun of them.

Here’s the gist of the whole thing: these are little electric parade cars that look like giant cupcakes with people sticking out the middle (like the dancer at the bachelor party, only not as hot).  Most of them have candy hats.

Hey, if I made this stuff up, I’d be either committed to an institution or up on drug charges.

They were designed by San Francisco Bay area artist (you know what that means, right?) Lisa Pongrace.  Amazingly, she wants to sell these at $25,000 a pop.  Actually, to be fair, Neiman Marcus wants to sell them for that. Too bad Michael Jackson isn’t around anymore, he would have loved these things.

The little cupcake cars have 24V motors and lead acid batteries and are capable of parade speeds (7mph) and a range of about 15-20 miles. The cupcakes are made of sheet metal, fabric, and wood.  Yum.
