The German aircraft design and engineering firm PC-Aero has announced completion of the static tests for the Elektra One prototype electric airplane.  The single-seater has thus qualified for German Ultralight Certification, making it ready to fly.  First test flights are scheduled for this month (January 2011).

The aircraft completed a rollout under its own power (electric motor) in November and has completed structural load tests in late December (pictured).

Elektra One first appeared at AERO 2010 in Friedrichshafen during the Global Show for General Aviation.  Since then, enthusiasts have watched closely and will wait with baited breath for a first flight from this electric-powered airplane.
