Veggie Detox Day 2: Day-glo Pee
Filed Under: Do It Yourself, Health Issues on March 28, 2011
Today will be very much like yesterday was. This morning began with juicing, same recipe as before. Except it included my first whole grain, a graham cracker that Heidi dropped into the juicer’s funnel because I was holding her while dropping things in. Oh well.
The salad from yesterday (pictured) will be repeated again today for lunch. I’m adding some bell pepper slices. I’ll also be eating sprouts all day today, since the next batch is ready for harvest. Got an easy 3 pounds out of this run. Mostly alfalfa and radish. I’ve also got a few lentils sprouting, but they need another day I think. As soon as the sprout trays are cleaned, I’ll start a new batch.
Not sure what’s for dinner yet. Kathy wants to mix things up a little, so we’ll probably go down the street to the grocery and see what they have for us to work with.
Juicing has two major side effects: 1) the awesome compost fodder you end up with from the leavings, and 2) your pee turns really bright colored. I considered snapping a photo of that, but decided that’s probably not the kind of thing that should be posted on a blog like this. :)
By the end of the week, I may be posting something about this year’s garden plans and seed starting, which I hope to get going on this week.
