Comment Policy Posted on July 1st, 2009
If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!
I greatly encourage readers to comment, to tell me (and other readers) about their experiences related to posts, and to offer more information they might have about what’s in a post. I read all of the comments on my blog here and respond to those that are interesting.
Comments have several purposes to both myself and you as a reader and (possible) blogger or website owner. I, of course, get more information, learn more, and get to see who it is that’s reading my blog. You get link-backs to your own website or blog, get to build your credibility, and can introduce me and the readers here to what your site has to offer.
In fact, the last thing I want is for Aaron’s EnvironMental Corner to become an Aaron-focused site. Ya, I like the attention, but I don’t want that to be the end-all, be-all of it. I want, instead, to build a community of like-minded, thoughtful, and intelligent people who truly enjoy and are interested in environmentalism in a realistic way.
I enjoy the interaction the community a blog builds can provide and I do visit the blogs and follow the Tweets of those who are most interesting and thoughtful here on Aaron’s EnvironMental Corner.
With all of that said, there are three things I will not tolerate for commentary on this blog:
- Totally negative hate speech towards specific individuals or groups. Hate on politicians, Democrats, Republicans, Potomac-fever types, etc. all you want. I don’t like them either. But don’t target individual names, societal groups (gays, Christians, stay-at-home moms, or whatever), etc. when you do say negative things. There’s generally enough negativity in the world anyway, so if you have negative things to say, sit back, relax, take a walk, or do something to calm down and see if you really do want to say it before you hit that “submit” button.
- Comments meant only as self-promotion tools. If you have nothing to say, don’t say it. If your response to a post on this blog is merely to generate a link-back to your own site, there’s a pretty good chance it will never appear on this site. I filter posts that are nothing but self-promotion propaganda.
- Family unfriendly and/or explicitly sexual comments. This should be obvious. As an aside, on a related note, profanities will likely be edited out of your comment as well.
Those are pretty much the only comment rules I have. I consider this a free and open forum, though I do reserve the right to remove anything I don’t think should be here. In the end, this blog is personal property, but I have an open policy in life, so I invite you to join in. I love dissenting opinions, thoughtful arguments, and genuine questions. I do not consider ad hominem to be an “argument,” despite what you might have learned otherwise from talk radio or television.
Most of all, though, I just want you to enjoy your time here because when people enjoy themselves, it rubs off. So your enjoyment will bring me happiness too!

I would like to know if you all ever visit the places you advertise?
Thank you

If by “advertise” you mean the links to non-profits I have linked from this site, then yes, I visit them regularly. Otherwise, there aren’t any advertisements on this site. Thanks.
